There are many things which no teacher can convey to a child of three, but a child of five can do it with the utmost ease. There is between them a natural 'osmosis'. Again, a child of three will take interest in what a five year old is doing, since it is not far removed from his own powers.

The Montessori Philosophy
The goals that we set forth at Lake Lotawana Montessori school are to foster independence while supporting children in moving toward a mastery of self and environment. The classrooms for children ages 3 to Kindergarten are well-prepared, Montessori environments in which children are encouraged to be self-directed in their discovery of the world around them. Work and activities are designed to promote interest from the child, and help the child develop self-confidence and a love of learning.
One fundemental part of the Monressori environment is the mixed-age classroom. In the mixed-aged
environment, children may work either individually or in small groups, learning from and sharing with
one another. As Maria Montessori wrote, "All of the older ones become heroes and teachers, and the
tinies are their admirers. These look to the former for inspiration, then go on with their work."
The Montessori classroom includes five major areas of learning:
- Practical Life
- Sensorial
- Language
- Math
- Physical Science and Geography
Lake Lotawana Montessori is a true Children's House, located just inside Gate 2 off Colbern Road in Lake
Lotawana, MO. We are a facility with one-classroom, filled with Montessori work for all areas of
learning. Children ages 3 to 6 may attend our program which includes: Practical Life, Sensorial,
Cultural, Physical Science, Geography, Math, Language, Spanish, Art, Music, and Yoga. Along with
this, children will eat a healthy hot lunch and have outside play time.
